Mackerel Teriyaki recipe

This is a really tasty way of serving mackerel. Use only fresh fillets for this as smoked would be too overpowering.

  • 4 mackerel fillets, skinned and boned
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 60ml sweet Japanese wine
  • Ĺ tbsp. minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp. golden caster sugar

Method of Preparation:

  1. Pat the fillets dry with some kitchen towel. Mix together the soy sauce, Japanese wine, ginger and sugar. Pour the marinade over the fish and cover them with cling film and then leave them overnight.

  2. Grill the mackerel fillets for 7 minutes or until they begins to flake.

This can also be done with lots of other fish, including salmon, haddock and cod. Itís also tasty with 50g of sesame seeds added into the marinade. This recipe serves four people.
